Environmental Services Technician

Position Overview

Sentara Care Plex Hospital, located in Hampton, VA, is currently seeking an Environmental Services Technician I for the 3rd (night) shift with rotating weekends. This full‑time position focuses on maintaining a clean, orderly, and sanitary environment in assigned areas while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Monday – Friday: 11pm – 7:30am
Rotating weekends.

• Perform damp dusting, mopping, scouring, scrubbing, stripping, polishing, and other cleaning tasks.
• Clean patient rooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Respond promptly to spills and ensure proper waste disposal.
• Use cleaning chemicals safely and manage all equipment and applications.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards for waste collection, handling, and transport.
• Collaborate closely with team members to provide the best possible patient experience.
• Assist in cross‑training opportunities in other areas and pursue professional development pathways.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of previous housekeeping or Environmental Services experience (hospital setting strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and chemical usage.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
