Job Title
The purpose of the class is to perform skilled work in the mechanical repair and maintenance of a variety of equipment, with particular regard to specialized golf course equipment. The class works under direct supervision according to set procedures.
Minimum Requirements- Requires a minimum of one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in the repair and maintenance of small engines.
- Graduation from High school or successful completion of a GED preferred.
- Vocational, technical, or trade school training in the maintenance and repair of small engines is preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires shift work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays and on-call emergency standby on a rotating basis.
- The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
