General Information:

Facilities Management at JMU is currently accepting applications for a Power Plant Mechanical Supervisor. This position will safely and efficiently supervise and maintain all aspects of steam generation and distribution services throughout the University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Providing skilled and effective supervision of personnel and operations

* Maintenance repair, inspection and rebuilding of steam generating and chill water production systems

* Operate all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to power plant equipment; boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, valves, controls, steam traps, 3 phase electric motors and steam distribution systems

* Supervise, train and teach employees proper procedures , repair techniques and safety issues

* Troubleshooting problem areas and inspecting for defective equipment/faulty components

Qualifications:

* Skilled use of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment and mechanical abilities

* Ability to maintain and repair power plant and related equipment

* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems

* Accurately interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, specifications and determine project requirements

* Ability to read and interpret gauges, recorders and monitoring equipment

* Posses proficient computer skills and be familiar with DEQ permitting regulations

* Successful supervisory skills

* In depth knowledge of applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures

* Ability to perform complex record keeping tasks

* Availability to work all shifts

* Valid Driver's License
