James Madison University Facilities Management is accepting applications for full-time evening and night shift housekeeping workers. Applicants will be contacted via phone or email as positions become available. This position is scheduled for evening/night hours; however, candidates must be available to work day shift during the first week training period.
Duties and Responsibilities- Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
- Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
- Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.
- Staff may be moved on a regular basis, temporarily, to meet short-term business needs such as summer cleans, special projects, shortages in other areas, etc.
Required:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding job duties with or without an accommodation.
- Ability to work with industrial‑strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
- Ability to clean materials containing blood borne pathogens.
- Effective time‑management skills.
- Attention to detail and basic customer service aptitude.
- Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment are essential.
- Some positions may require the ability to demonstrate basic proficiency in English.
Additional Considerations:
- Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
