Facilities Management at JMU is currently accepting applications for a Power Plant Mechanical Supervisor. This position will safely and efficiently supervise and maintain all aspects of steam generation and distribution services throughout the University.
Duties and Responsibilities- Providing skilled and effective supervision of personnel and operations.
- Maintenance repair, inspection and rebuilding of steam generating and chill water production systems.
- Operate all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to power plant equipment; boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, valves, controls, steam traps, 3 phase electric motors and steam distribution systems.
- Supervise, train and teach employees proper procedures, repair techniques and safety issues.
- Troubleshooting problem areas and inspecting for defective equipment/faulty components.
- Skilled use of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment and mechanical abilities.
- Ability to maintain and repair power plant and related equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems.
- Accurately interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, specifications and determine project requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, recorders and monitoring equipment.
- Possess proficient computer skills and be familiar with DEQ permitting regulations.
- Successful supervisory skills.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures.
- Ability to perform complex record keeping tasks.
- Availability to work all shifts.
- Valid Driver's License.
