Job Description

Amentum is seeking a Facility Maintenance/Plumbing Systems Technician for our client site in Groton, CT.

Key Information
  • Hourly rate: $38-$43 (determined by experience, education, skills, and market data)
  • Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (additional hours may be required)
  • Compensation: 38.00 – 43.00 (see Compensation Details)

Daily Support Activities
  • Respond to work orders, troubleshoot, and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on plumbing, mechanical equipment, pumps, piping, backflows, drains, and other assets.
  • Repair building systems such as chilled water, reheat, potable and non‑potable water distribution, distilled water & reverse osmosis, lab gas, high/low vacuum, instrument air compressors and dryers, and waste discharge systems.
  • Perform periodic maintenance on backflow prev enters, eyewash/safety showers, and water filtration systems.
  • Implement lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and conduct inspections of major equipment, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Operate hand tools (grinders, saws, impact wrenches, wrenches, drills) to assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures per specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Diagnose and repair industrial mechanical systems and facility equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Communication and Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Clear verbal and written communication, including phone and written documentation.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers during site emergencies.
  • Accurate recording of work in electronic and paper systems.
  • Efficient complaint resolution to minimize escalation.
Minimum Requirements
  • 3+ years of mechanical maintenance and plumbing experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical building systems.
  • Capable of passing a medical evaluation for respirator use and fit testing.
  • Strong reading comprehension of technical documents and computer displays, including full Microsoft product line fluency.
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
  • No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
Preferred Requirements
  • Technical degree.
  • Experience in GMP or similar regulated environments (e.g., hospitals, pharmaceutical campuses).
  • Skill in interpreting repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and/or EAMS.
  • Backflow preventer testing certification.
  • P‑1 or P‑2 license.
  • Compensation based on licenses and years of experience.
Physical and

Special Requirements
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding regularly.
  • Perform repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement.
  • Walk extensively during shift.
  • Work at an accelerated pace during emergencies.
  • Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as required.
  • Cope with job‑related stressors.
Compensation Details

Hourly rate range: $38.00 – $43.00. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, responsibilities, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
