Job Title
Porter / Assistant Superintendent
Position OverviewWe are seeking a dependable Porter / Assistant Superintendent to support the daily operations of a condominium community in the Hartford area. This on-site role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and well-kept environment while proactively supporting the needs of the Association and assisting the Superintendent with day-to-day property operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Property Upkeep
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas including hallways, stairwells, entryways, elevators, parking garage, and shared spaces
- Pick up trash and debris throughout the property, including walkways and parking areas
- Ensure the property remains clean, orderly, and presentable at all times
General Maintenance
- Perform interior painting and minor repairs (drywall patching, fixture replacements, touch-ups)
- Replace light bulbs and assist with routine maintenance tasks
- Maintain tools, equipment, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner
- Carpet cleaning and sweeping the parking garage
Property Monitoring & Proactive Support
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to identify maintenance or safety concerns
- Report issues, damages, or violations promptly
- Take a proactive approach to resolving minor issues
- Support the unique needs of the Association as they arise
Support to Superintendent
- Assist with maintenance tasks, projects, and work orders
- Help coordinate access for residents, vendors, and contractors
- Provide general support to ensure smooth daily operations
Administrative & Communication
- Maintain a daily log of tasks completed
- Communicate updates, issues, and priorities clearly
- Monitor supplies and notify management when restocking is needed
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
- Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately
- Use equipment and materials safely
Emergency & Seasonal Duties
- Assist with seasonal duties as needed
- Participate in after-hours emergency response if required
Ability to perform physical tasks (walking, lifting, cleaning, etc.)
Basic maintenance and repair skills
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Good communication and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience
1+ year of porter, maintenance, or janitorial experience
Residential or condominium maintenance experience is a plus
