Job Summary
Under the general supervision of principal, the Kindergarten Bilingual Classroom Teacher will teach in a self-contained bilingual classroom in which instruction is provided in Spanish and English. The Bilingual Classroom Teacher will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The candidate must be fluent in Spanish and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
The candidate must possess a current Illinois Professional Educator's License with approvals for Early Childhood Education. Additional Bilingual Education and ESL preferred. A current Type 29 certificatewill be considered.
- Valid Professional Educator Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Previous teaching experience with elementary school-aged children preferred.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
- 180 day/10 month position.
- Evaluation conducted in accordance with the evaluation plan, the Illinois School Code and applicable regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Salary and increase set by Professional Negotiation Contract.
- In person and on site in a school/classroom environment.
