Overview
Prepare and x‑ray parts to an approved technique under the supervision of an RT Level 2 or 3. Must be familiar with customer specifications and required CM procedures. Salvage castings at the end of production process by removing any final flash, sand, metal, defects or other casting debris that is found in the x‑ray process. Interact with the welding department by preparing castings for weld repair.
Understand the welding process, attributes necessary for successful welding, and support the welding department. Employee will interact with Final Inspection and Quality departments learning about scrap, disposition, and analyzing repetitive clean‑up and making suggestions for continuous improvement.

- Accurate scanning in and out of jobs and proper reporting of processed quantities.
- Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
- Understand customer requirements, company scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
- Review & inspect all material being used, building self‑inspection into everything you make/process.
- Complete, date, and sign‑off on all routing information.
- Perform job tasks efficiently according to given standards.
- Become familiar with CM Procedures M13 Marking and SP 402 (1‑5) DDA and traveler tickets.
- Sort parts by melt, dash, or serial numbers; verify quantities and welded castings according to route tickets.
- May remove flash, sand, metal, defects, or other debris from castings.
- Serialize parts per CM procedure and serialization instructions on traveler tickets and log books.
- X‑ray parts to an approved technique and CM procedure SP402.
- Inspect and analyze casting for visual defects, making repairs or scrapping decisions.
- Prepare castings for welding.
- Review work instructions, detailed inspection plans, weld maps & blueprints to determine whether casting meets final specifications before passing to next work phase.
- May perform and verify calibrations.
- Communicate with X‑Ray, Final Inspection, and Quality teams about visual defect patterns, suggest continuous improvement ideas for elimination of defects; interact with welding department preparing welds, understanding the welding process, attributes necessary for successful welding and supporting the welding department when time allows.
- Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management.
- Provide oversight to x‑ray trainees by verifying and signing off on all x‑ray shots.

- 40 hours documented formal training and minimum 400 hours on the job training i.A.W. NAS-410 and CM procedure TP- NDT.
- Experience with blending, drilling, measurement tools, and welding process knowledge preferred.
- Sufficient practical experience as an RT trainee.
- Microsoft Suite experience.
