Position: Business Segment Manager - Basic Metals

Salary

FUCHS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position. The salary range for this position is up to $180,000 to $210,000, but actual salary will vary depending upon a new hire’s experience and qualifications as well as internal equity.

Your Responsibilities

We are seeking a high-impact Business Segment Manager – Basic Metals to lead and accelerate the growth, profitability, and market position of our Basic Metals business segment across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Business Segment Manager serves as the strategic business owner and commercial leader for the Basic Metals segment, accountable for driving sustainable growth, profitability, market share expansion, competitive positioning, and organizational alignment across North America.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Industrial Sales, the BSM will work across the Enterprise (Sales, Product Management, R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources) to execute business strategy and deliver measurable results. The role also serves as a critical liaison between North American operations and global business leadership, ensuring local market requirements are reflected in long‑term strategic planning and product innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Include Strategic Leadership & Business Ownership
  • Own the Basic Metals segment business plan, including revenue, profitability, market share, and growth objectives across North America.
  • Translate global segment strategies into actionable business plans and execution priorities.
  • Define target industries, applications, customer segmentation, and channel strategies.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities, emerging technologies, and market trends.
  • Serve as the primary link between global business strategy and regional execution.
Pricing & Profitability Management
  • Lead segment pricing strategy and margin optimization initiatives.
  • Drive value‑based selling approaches focused on customer outcomes and total cost of ownership.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercial Leadership to improve price discipline, product mix, and account profitability.
  • Develop business cases and investment strategies that support long‑term segment growth.
  • Ensure pricing governance supports both market competitiveness and profitability objectives.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Positioning
  • Serve as the voice of the market by collecting and translating customer, industry, OEM, and competitor insights into actionable strategies.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive positioning, regulatory developments, and technology advancements.
  • Evaluate opportunities and threats within the Basic Metals market and recommend strategic actions.
  • Support portfolio, pricing, and go‑to‑market decisions with fact‑based market intelligence.
Cross‑Functional Business Leadership
  • Lead alignment across Product Management, R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Finance, and HR.
  • Shape portfolio strategy, innovation priorities, supply readiness, sourcing decisions, marketing initiatives, and organizational capabilities.
  • Support OEM approvals, field trials, technical problem‑solving, and new product development.
Sales Enablement & Matrix Leadership
  • Guide and support Business Development Managers, Key Account Managers, and Territory Sales teams.
  • Develop segment playbooks, growth strategies, technical training, and customer targeting plans.
  • Lead regular business reviews and planning sessions to ensure execution excellence.
  • Create alignment between strategic objectives and field‑level activities.
Customer & OEM Engagement
  • Build relationships with strategic customers, industry influencers, OEMs, and key decision‑makers.
  • Drive specification approvals, product adoption, and long‑term market positioning.
  • Act as a trusted advisor through deep industry and application expertise.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Marketing, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
