EXPERIENCED FORKLIFT TECHNICIAN (5+ YEARS FORKLIFT TECHNICIAN EXPERIENCE)

Voss Equipment, Inc. is seeking trainable, customer service-oriented, outgoing individuals interested in a career as a Field Service Technician within a growing company. 1934.

Job Summary

As an Experienced Forklift Technician, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline-powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment. Strong customer service skills are highly required, as you will interact directly with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring they receive top-tier solutions. With your mechanical expertise and problem-solving ability, you'll ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while building long-lasting relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Repairs: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform mechanical repairs on various forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Scheduled Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure equipment meets operational and safety standards.
  • Customer Solutions: Provide tailored solutions based on customer needs and offer repair estimates when appropriate.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including repair descriptions, equipment model numbers, serial numbers, and hour meter readings.
  • Customer Communication: Discuss necessary repairs with customers and obtain their approval before performing any work.
  • Lubrication & Adjustments: Lubricate moving parts, make necessary adjustments, and conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Equipment Testing: Test repaired equipment to verify it meets the required specifications.
  • Documentation Submission: Submit work orders, timecards, and other necessary documentation promptly and accurately to the field service coordinator.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintain a clean and organized appearance for both yourself and your service van. Track and account for all parts, supplies, and inventory in the van.
  • Van Maintenance: Monitor and schedule routine maintenance for the service van, reporting any issues to the Service Manager.
  • Sales Opportunities: Identify potential service and sales opportunities while on-site and communicate them internally.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a technician role, with in-depth mechanical knowledge of internal combustion engines, diesel engines, and electric motor control systems.

    Skills:

    • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
    • High level of knowledge of AC & DC motor control systems.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as a Digital Volt-Ohm Meter (DVOM).
    • Computer literacy for diagnostics and work order management.
    • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly with customers, supervisors, and dispatchers via phone, email, text, and software.
  • Customer Service Focus: Ability to provide excellent service while maintaining strong communication with dispatchers, supervisors, and customers.
  • Licenses & Tools: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and possess personal tools necessary for the job.
  • Bilingual a plus: Not required.
