Middle School Educator For Englsh Language Arts

Norridge School District 80 is seeking a dynamic middle school educator for Englsh Language Arts at James Giles School. This position will work with students in 7th grade and 8th grade. The successful candidates will:

• Possess a knowledge of the ELA Common Core Standards and how to apply these to instruction.
• Possess an understanding of literacy skills and strategies and their applications when teaching writing to middle school students.
• Possess an understanding of the academic and social/emotional needs of middle school students.
• Practice assessment techniques that promote student learning and inform instructional decisions.
• Implement a classroom management model that promotes student exploration while fostering student responsibility and independence.
• Exhibit a demeanor/disposition that engages children in learning and encourages risk taking.
• Practice a collaborative approach to working with colleagues whether at the grade level, school staff level, or district level.
• Promote differentiated instruction to engage all learners in the classroom, with an emphasis on project-based learning.
