Maintenance Mechanic I
Location: 3M HAVERHILL, MA
OverviewThis position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.
Impact You’ll Make- Perform work safely and efficiently, independently or as part of a team, while adhering to company safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Communicate effectively with employees at all levels through verbal, written, and electronic methods.
- Complete preventive maintenance on production equipment, material handling systems, safety devices, and facility utilities according to established procedures and schedules.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and align mechanical components including bearings, bushings, gearboxes, transmissions, motors, couplings, clutches, brakes, drive systems, and conveyor belts.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, pumps, motors, and distribution components.
- Diagnose and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, and related automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical components including contractors, relays, motor starters, circuit breakers, fuses, transformers, solenoids, switches, transducers, power supplies, and AC/DC motors.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.
- Possess a High School Diploma / GED or higher (completed prior to start).
- Required one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Associate or Technical Degree in a related field from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start date).
- Journeyman Certificate in a related trade.
- Two (2) years of vocational or trade school training in a related discipline.
- Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders through strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and active listening skills.
- Ability to obtain a Massachusetts Hoisting Operator License (M.G.L. c. 146 § 53).
- Experience using material cutting, joining, and fabrication techniques to manufacture, modify, and repair machine components and equipment.
Applicants who meet the basic qualifications above will be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as part of the selection process.
Pay & Benefits- Starting rate of pay for this position is $37.91. This estimate may vary based on factors including relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
