Scheduled work hours will vary based on operational needs and may occur between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm.
ResponsibilitiesPerforms janitorial, maintenance, and safety‑related duties to ensure the Havre Senior Center is maintained in a clean, safe, and functional condition. Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the building and surrounding grounds, and notifies the Director of any maintenance needs, repairs, or required supplies. Performs seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow removal from sidewalks during the winter months and lawn mowing and exterior property maintenance during the spring and summer.
Must be able to respond appropriately to building maintenance and emergency situations as they arise. In addition to janitorial and maintenance responsibilities, the employee may provide transportation services for Senior Center participants during scheduled work hours, as operational needs permit. Transportation duties are generally expected to occur during the morning hours prior to lunch service; however, work hours may vary based on operational needs.
Transportation services are provided to assist eligible seniors in attending meals, programs, and activities at the Senior Center.
Position requires the ability to perform cleaning duties and operate cleaning and building maintenance machines.
Performs minor repairs when required.
Transport Senior Center participants to and from the Senior Center in a safe, courteous, and professional manner, as scheduling and assigned duties permit. Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, including safely operating the wheelchair lift and assisting with loading, securing, and unloading passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
Provide exceptional customer service while interacting with seniors, families, staff, and the public.
Maintain effective communication with Senior Center staff regarding transportation schedules and participant needs.
Conduct routine pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks, including checking fluid levels, tire condition, fuel level, cleanliness, and overall vehicle readiness.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
Working knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures. Ability to recognize building maintenance issues and report repair needs in a timely manner.
SkillsProficiency in commercial cleaning techniques to ensure a clean, sanitary and welcoming environment.
Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment and tools.
AbilitiesAbility to perform physically demanding custodial duties, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and other repetitive movements associated with commercial cleaning. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to routine and unexpected situations.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience in commercial custodial or janitorial services, including the operation of commercial cleaning equipment (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
