Description
Under the Foreman, performs and assists in the repairs and preventative maintenance on the lagoon, its associated systems and all watercrafts and associated equipment used at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in and cleans and maintains function of the lagoon and water features to acceptable standards as needed using approved methods, including motor boat operation, scoop nets and skimming tools, vacuum tools, gaffs, etc.
- Assists in and maintains and repairs PCC canoes and work boats adhering to approved standards of repair and maintenance.
- Assists in and monitors and provides basic maintenance on the PCC well system, water filtration systems, and sluice gate controls.
- Performs other job-related duties.
- In good health, able to perform a full range of body movement and be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand and sit while skimming, scooping, dumping, and vacuuming the lagoon, and associated equipment.
- Willing and able to learn to use appropriate tools to prepare canoes for repair.
- Willing and able to learn to work with appropriate resins, paints, and materials to provide proper repairs.
- Willing and able to learn to operate equipment to load, launch, and retrieve watercraft.
- Willing and able to learn to mobilize a boat or canoe with an outboard motor, pole, or paddles if and as needed.
- Able to effectively communicate in written and spoken English.
- Able to operate a computer with basic email, word processing, and spreadsheet skills.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Prior work experience in fiberglass is preferred, but not required.
