Summary
These positions are located in Kalaupapa National Historical Park, in the Roads and Trails Division. You must reside within the following defined vicinity for this position is: the Islands of Molokai, Maui and Oahu in Hawaii. Proof of residency documents are required. See "Required Documents" section below. The positions in this announcement are Career-Seasonal positions. MajorDuties
Performs routine and emergency maintenance on approximately 3.5 miles of trail, including tread repair, drainage improvements, erosion control, step reconstruction, wall stabilization, and debris removal. Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools including rock bars, sledgehammers, drills, saws, compactors, and other construction equipment. Constructs, repairs, and stabilizes dry‑stack and mortared rock walls; resets stone steps; repairs stone retaining structures;
and maintains drainage features such as culverts, water bars, and headwalls. Constructs and repairs wooden trail features including steps, staircases, boardwalks, landings, bridges, railings, fencing, and small structural supports. Career‑Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year‑round basis. You will work approximately 25 pay periods (54 weeks), and you will be in a non‑pay status for the remainder of the year.
