Custodian

Job Description

Custodian. Entry-level position that works with direction and supervision to perform general custodial services, event set up services (interior & exterior), and provides assistance to other custodians as needed.

• Custodial Services:
  Review work to be performed in advance with Custodian II/III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigation to ensure safety; assist or perform custodial services; assemble materials and tools as needed; prepare and clean work areas, machines, and equipment; assist other Custodians; may independently perform general custodial services with guidance.
• Safety:
  Attend all technical and safety training, use PPE, adhere to safety guidance; review work with Custodians II or III to ensure understanding of risks and mitigations; report safety hazards or correct if able to.
• Administrative:
  Participate in campus and department events; adhere to employee handbook protocols; identify and suggest ways to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

• Minimum Qualifications:
  
  An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
• Willingness to accept and follow directions.
• Ability to read and comprehend training materials and safety instructions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
• Demonstrated values of inclusion.

• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  Valid Driver's License;
  Basic computer knowledge.

• Physical requirements:
  
  Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling heavy objects (over 50 pounds); walking/standing, bending, crouching, reaching, and occasional sitting; manual dexterity to work with hand tools.
• Working conditions:
  
  Exposure to extreme temperatures and hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, odors, loud noises; work may be outdoors or indoors; teamwork with other Custodians; schedule may include afternoons, evenings, mornings, or weekends to meet goals.

Pay Range: 20.73 - 27.48 Hourly
