Equipment Mechanic

As the Equipment Mechanic you will troubleshoot defective machinery and equipment such as compressors, paint booths, drill and hydraulic presses, bolt drivers, conveyor systems, grit blasting equipment, and pneumatic power systems. You will also support the installation and relocation of machinery, perform preventive maintenance, overhaul, and repair work, and fabricate simple replacement parts. The position requires US citizenship and obtaining and maintaining a Secret US Government Clearance, and may require overtime and rotating shifts.

• Troubleshoot defective operations and breakdowns of machinery and equipment.
• Install new machinery, relocate existing machinery, and realign machine beds.
• Replace or repair parts, wheels, shafting, bearings, and other components.
• Adjust clearances, belt drives, and other working parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance, overhaul, and repair work.
• Realign gears.
• Install tools and fixtures on ordnance-type equipment.
• Operate lathes, drill presses, power saws, milling machines, and pedestal grinders to fabricate simple replacement parts.
• Perform minor AC/DC and oxy/acetylene gas welding.
• Report potential environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.
• Read and understand Task Hazard Analysis to identify risks to health and safety.
• Perform all work safely and in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
• Work overtime as required.
• Maintain a good attendance record.
• Perform any other duties of equal or lower difficulty as assigned.

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Equipment Mechanic or related field.
• Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot machinery, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with a wide variety of tools and machinery.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance, BACF clearance, and NCIC III vetting.
• Ability to obtain/maintain all certifications required by Amentum’s Master Training Plan.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy and ability to operate a terminal.
• Willingness to work overtime, varying hours, or rotating shifts.
• Ability to maintain fitness‑for‑duty standards and perform essential functions, including HWAD drills, contingencies, and emergencies.
• Detail oriented with good judgment in problem solving.
• Capacity to work in a constant state of alertness safely.
• Ability to perform safety‑sensitive duties.
• Valid State of Nevada driver’s license and successful MVR check.
• Valid HWAD site access and BACF clearance with NCIC III vetting.
• US citizenship.
• Secret US Government Clearance ability.

• Four (4) years of experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of air logic systems.

This position is designated as a safety sensitive role and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. Candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, respiratory screening, and must meet the personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR, Army Regulations AR 190‑11, AR 190‑13, and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.

Hourly rate: $30.38 – $40.80 (annualized equivalent). Actual compensation will vary based on responsibilities, experience, and other factors.
