West Coast Dental is a leading healthcare organization specializing in the dental industry. We offer a full spectrum of specialized products, services, and technologies to address any dental restoration need. Our team is growing and we have labs throughout the country. We are seeking to fill the position of Maintenance/Janitorial Specialist in Hawthorne, CA.

Hours of Work: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays and Sundays scheduled as needed. The schedule is subject to change from time to time.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position
  • General facility maintenance including interior and exterior maintenance.
  • Service and repair laboratory equipment and send out for repair if needed.
  • Build shelves, carts, and perform minor carpentry projects.
  • Clean and fill sand‑blasting machines.
  • Replace air filters, service, and maintain air compressors and elevator.
  • Assist in setting up annual service calls and inspections.
  • Replace and repair fluorescent light bulbs and fixtures.
  • Maintain tools, janitorial and maintenance equipment in an organized manner.
  • Order and stock repair parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all machinery such as milling machines.
  • Initiate preventive maintenance program, create equipment tracking/logs, ensure maintenance to manufacturer’s standards, manage warranties, and schedule warranty preventive maintenance.
  • Train in Lockout‑Tagout and oversee the LOTO program.
  • Active lab safety committee member.
  • Perform daily janitorial duties as assigned in the laboratory, including but not limited to department trash removal and general clean‑up.
  • Service and maintain autoclave and submit testing strips for monthly testing.
  • Conduct and oversee lab remodels as needed.
  • Assist in relocation efforts as needed.
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes on equipment and remodeling projects.
  • Manage equipment warranties, timing and preventive maintenance.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities

Required
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of proper and safe techniques of building maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to the work schedule.
  • Ability to understand and follow written or oral instructions and establish effective working relationships.
Minimum Education and Experience Required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Preferred: 5 years of previous maintenance experience.
Hazardous Materials or Equipment Used
  • All equipment and chemicals utilized in the laboratory for production or maintenance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods, repeatedly bend and kneel.
  • Must be able to work from ladders or aerial work platforms.
  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The member may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 80 pounds.
