Position:
Environmental Services Tech (Housekeeping / Janitorial Staff) at High Plains Mental Health Center, Hays, Kansas.
Location:
Hays, Kansas | Crisis Intervention Center
Pay:
Starting at $14-17 per hour plus shift differentials and $500 sign‑on bonus.
Schedule:
PRN (up to 28 hrs/week). Typical shifts: 5pm-10pm; weekend coverage needed. In‑person.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, offices, kitchens, and shared spaces.
- Maintain a clear sanitation schedule and ensure all areas are consistently clean and safe.
- Disinfect high‑touch surfaces and biohazard areas with appropriate cleaning agents and protective gear.
- Safely handle, dilute, and store cleaning supplies.
- Manage waste, including biohazardous materials, disposing of it properly.
- Keep janitorial closets tidy and cleaning tools in top condition.
- Ensure bathrooms and common areas are stocked.
- Support safety by keeping hallways and exits clear for emergencies.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Participate in quarterly fire, tornado, and emergency drills.
- Create a welcoming, trauma‑informed environment and maintain client confidentiality.
- At least 18 years old.
- Preferred experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or healthcare cleaning.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safe dilution, and PPE use.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform tasks such as standing, walking, bending.
- Must pass background checks and screenings.
- Physically capable of handling high‑pressure or crisis situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals with serious mental illness or functional impairments.
