Engineering Operations Technician

As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you will serve as a critical guardian of Amazon’s technological infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and uptime of mission‑critical data center facilities. Your work will support the operations of servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, and will contribute to maintaining a 99.999% uptime for global customers.

• Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within established Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLA.
• Conduct preventive maintenance (PM), root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Document technical aspects to support change management programs.
• Monitor daily work requests, drive them to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.
• Support multiple data center sites if required, including travel to alternative locations during training or development phases.
• Shift schedules may include up to 12‑hour shifts and on‑call rotations based on site needs.

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently.
• Participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds.
• Maintain balance and perform tasks on a ladder.
• Walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects.
• Use ear protection as required.

• Must be able to travel more than 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required.
• Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and the operational status of the assigned facility.
• Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods.

• 1+ year of electrical facilities maintenance or 1+ year of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• 1+ year of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• Associate’s degree in a related field, or technical degree in a related field.

The starting pay for this position is listed above. Final starting pay will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
