As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of mission‑critical technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations that power global digital experiences. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining an extraordinary 99.999% uptime.

Engineering Technicians are Amazon’s front line for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Data Center Operations’ Mission Critical Facilities, which include stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, and three‑phase electrical systems such as switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries, CRAC, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers, pumps, and motors.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You’ll collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing vast capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

• Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including filter changes, battery system PMs, Rack and Diesel Generator PMs, and other equipment PMs.
• Perform root‑cause analysis for operational issues.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events.
• Ensure all personnel on‑site follow safety protocols.
• Work on‑call and on a rotating schedule as needed.
• Take daily operational readings and provide metrics reporting to senior engineers.
• Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root‑cause analysis, and task prioritization.

• Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs, rack de‑commissioning, operational readings, and facility management.
• Provide key performance indicators to senior engineers.
• Manage contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring work complies with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
• Oversee maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
• Adhere to all safety procedures while performing work.
• Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment, ensuring 99.99% uptime of the world's largest cloud computing portfolio.
• Support multiple locations/sites as required.
• Perform construction tasks on uneven terrain, using ladders, and perform physical labor such as lifting up to 39 pounds unassisted and group lifts for 40+ pounds.
• Execute tasks that require reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, and working above shoulders.

Role may support more than one location/site.

• Work schedule may include 12‑hour shifts and rotating on‑call rotations.
• Walk job sites in uneven terrain and maintain balance while on a ladder.
• Regularly handle materials that require manual labor and physical stamina.

• 2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.
• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.

• 4+ years of data center engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in data center engineering.
• Ability to perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired.
