Job Summary:
The 3rd Grade Co‑Teacher works collaboratively with the classroom teacher and grade‑level team to provide high‑quality instruction, differentiation, and support to all students. The co‑teaching model promotes inclusion, shared responsibility, and individualized instruction to meet diverse academic, social, and emotional needs in alignment with Illinois Learning Standards and district curriculum.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Elementary Education (K–9) required.
- Additional endorsements in Special Education
, English as a Second Language (ESL), or Bilingual Education preferred. - Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field required;
Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working in an elementary classroom preferred.
- Demonstrated success in co‑teaching, team teaching, or collaborative instructional environments preferred.
- Experience supporting diverse learners, including students with IEPs and English Learners, strongly preferred.
- Collaborate with the general education teacher to plan, deliver, and assess effective lessons aligned with district and state standards.
- Implement differentiated instruction and accommodations to support a wide range of learners, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), English Learners (ELs), and advanced learners.
- Use co‑teaching models (e.g., team teaching, parallel teaching, station teaching) to support student learning and engagement.
- Assist in developing lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that reflect best practices in elementary education.
- Provide small‑group and one‑on‑one instruction as needed to reinforce skills and concepts.
- Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments; assist in analyzing data to inform instruction.
- Support classroom management by maintaining clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices.
- Work collaboratively with special education staff, interventionists, and specialists (e.g., reading, math, and EL teachers).
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, participating in conferences and family engagement events as needed.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom climate that values diversity, respect, and collaboration.
- Participate in grade‑level, building, and district professional learning communities (PLCs).
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices and collaboration skills.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation.
- Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and ISBE standards for teacher conduct and certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
- Strong understanding of child development and the Illinois Learning Standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and families.
- Skill in differentiating instruction and managing classroom behavior positively and proactively.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in instructional technology, including Google Workspace, learning management systems, and adaptive learning tools.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
