Position OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-focused 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate is passionate about hands‑on learning, inquiry-based instruction, and helping students build strong scientific literacy and problem‑solving skills. This teacher will deliver standards-aligned instruction in life, physical, and earth sciences while fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high-quality science instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards for Science (NGSS).
- Design engaging, inquiry-based lessons, labs, and projects that promote critical thinking and real-world application.
- Use data to inform instruction, differentiate learning, and support academic growth for all students.
- Integrate technology, scientific tools, and digital resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student success and well-being.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and administrators to support school and district goals.
- Communicate regularly with families to build strong school-home partnerships.
- Participate in professional development, PLCs, and school wide initiatives.
Required:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Middle Grades Science or Secondary Science endorsement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NGSS and effective science instructional practices.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching middle school students.
- Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Ability to integrate STEM, project-based learning, or cross-disciplinary instruction.
