Position Overview
Hazel Crest School District 152.5 is seeking a passionate, student-centered Elementary Spanish Teacher dedicated to fostering language acquisition, cultural awareness, and a love of learning among elementary students. The ideal candidate will create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that support communication skills while promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging Spanish language instruction aligned to state and district standards
- Create lessons that incorporate speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish
- Foster appreciation and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of all learners
- Integrate technology and interactive learning strategies into daily instruction
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration to support student success
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events
- Maintain accurate records, grades, and student data in accordance with district expectations
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Spanish, or related field
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s)
- Bilingual and/or Spanish fluency required
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and student engagement strategies
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Experience integrating instructional technology into language instruction
- Familiarity with MTSS and culturally responsive teaching practices
- Ability to create interactive, hands-on learning experiences for young learners
