Middle School Science Teacher

The Hazel Crest School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time, Middle School Science Teacher position. Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and student-focused 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate is passionate about hands-on learning, inquiry-based instruction, and helping students build strong scientific literacy and problem-solving skills. This teacher will deliver standards-aligned instruction in life, physical, and earth sciences while fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality science instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards for Science (NGSS).
• Design engaging, inquiry-based lessons, labs, and projects that promote critical thinking and real-world application.
• Use data to inform instruction, differentiate learning, and support academic growth for all students.
• Integrate technology, scientific tools, and digital resources to enhance learning experiences.
• Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student success and well-being.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and administrators to support school and district goals.
• Communicate regularly with families to build strong school-home partnerships.
• Participate in professional development, PLCs, and school wide initiatives.

Qualifications Required

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Middle Grades Science or Secondary Science endorsement.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NGSS and effective science instructional practices.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
