Erection Mechanic

Unload, assemble, make electrical, hydraulic connections and test electrical and hydraulic circuits on Intermodal and Industrial heavy equipment in an outdoor environment.

• Assemble Intermodal and Industrial heavy equipment at customer’s sites.
• Read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Performs troubleshooting and repair of systems and components, as required.
• Maintains accurate records, as required.
• Responds to any customer related equipment requests.
• Ensure compliance in all railroad, safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Travel to customer sites out of town for weeks at a time.
• Work in different elevated heights up to 100 feet off the ground.
• Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries;
  Assist in delivering required training to ensure that all coworkers have the necessary skills to perform their jobs properly and safely.
• Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal & external).
• Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Company wide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability.
• Special projects or work as assigned.

High school diploma or GED equivalent and 3-5 years relevant work experience.

Highly developed mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background, particularly with an emphasis on cranes, extensive knowledge of crane equipment, an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams on Intermodal and Industrial heavy equipment, own the tools applicable to position, and exhibit strong teamwork, verbal, and written skills. Factory training certifications a plus.

Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions;
Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees. Requires knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical assemblies and testing experience.

Obtain an E-Rail security clearance badge.

This is a production classification and employees work outdoors (in all seasons) with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs.

Need to have the ability to ascend and descent a ladder and/or scaffolding. Not afraid of heights. Will work in different elevated heights up to 100 ft. off the ground. Ability to travel up to 70% to customer sites with overnight stays. Must provide basic tools.

The hourly pay range for this role is $41.00 to $45.00. The final compensation offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and location.
