- 24-bed Emergency Department
- No trauma designation
- Serves patients from neonates to geriatrics
- COVID vaccination required (per Advocate Health policy)

Advocate South Suburban is seeking experienced Emergency Department RNs to join a fast-paced, community-based ED. Nurses care for a diverse patient population with both medical and minor trauma presentations. This role requires strong clinical judgment, flexibility with scheduling, and the ability to thrive during surge volumes.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of recent ER experience
- Travel experience required (at least 1 year preferred)
- First-time travelers considered if candidate has 2+ years of ED experience
- Neonates through geriatrics
- Minor trauma (MVAs)
- Sepsis, COVID
- STEMI, Stroke, DKA
- Mental health emergencies
- Respiratory distress (SOB)
- Cardiac (rule-out chest pain)
- Neurological issues (AMS)
Staffing Ratios
- RN Ratio:
Typically 1:5- 5th patient is low acuity and requires minimal resources (during surge times)
- Tech Ratio: 1:10-12
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS - preferred
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Strong IV skills
- EKGs
- Basic ED drips and medication administration
- EPIC experience (preferred)
- CNAs
- Charge Nurse
- Respiratory Therapy
- Phlebotomy (for difficult blood draws)
- EMR: EPIC
- Medication Dispensing:
Pyxis - IV Pumps:
Alaris - Bedside monitors and central nurse's station monitoring
- Initial onboarding with educator (system access, modules, etc.)
- 1-2 unit orientation shifts
- Variable start times
- No self-scheduling
- Must be flexible
- Schedule created in 4-week blocks and released 1-2 weeks prior
- Block scheduling will NOT be accommodated
- Scrub Color:
Navy Blue - Parking:
Free (designated areas) - No artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient care
- Natural nail tips must be kept under ¼ inch
