- Assists in the maintenance and repair of the district grounds through the following activities, including but not limited to: planting, mowing, watering, weeding, snow removal, trash collection, sign installation/replacement and a variety of other related tasks.
- Operates vehicles, equipment, and a variety of hand and small power tools as required to support grounds operations.
- Performs cleaning/maintenance of district facilities.
- Performs sports field maintenance by fertilizing, weed spraying, grass seeding, dragging and leveling infields, and watering.
- Performs various light maintenance as needed.
- Performs general labor work inside and outside district facilities including but not limited to: district wide grounds-keeping; craft support; construction removal/remodel support; handling materials and supplies; activity set-up, support, and removal; field marking; building equipment transfers; operating power-driven equipment; truck driving; snow and ice removal; roofing; mowing; refuse removal, and maintenance of underground sprinkler systems, etc.
- Valid Montana Commercial Drivers' license is desired;
- Valid Montana Department of Agriculture Pesticide/Herbicide Applicators license is desired;
- Valid Montana low pressure Boilers license is desired;
- Experience operating various types of heavy equipment;
- Experience operating various types of shop equipment (Drill Press, Table Saw, etc.);
- Experience in construction (roofing, framing, concrete, basic plumbing, minor electrical, etc.);
- Experience with mechanical system equipment maintenance (filter changes, equipment lubrication, belt adjustment and replacement, etc.);
- Experience with irrigation system installation and repair;
- Experience with snow removal;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Five years' experience in grounds maintenance or related work and/or training;
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District;
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions, and work cooperatively with others;
- General knowledge of methods, supplies, and tools used in maintaining school grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition is desired.
- This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Helena School District and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

This position performs labor under supervision to contribute to the development and maintenance of Helena Public School grounds. Responsible for maintenance of district properties, facilities and equipment.
