Job Description
Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds is hiring for two Maintenance Worker I positions.
Shift Schedule- Wednesday
- Sunday or Friday
- Tuesday, 2:00PM to 11:00PM
- Perform routine custodial and facility maintenance duties under general supervision of the Fairgrounds Supervisor.
- Provide event set‑up assistance and support.
- Vacuum carpets, dust mop common areas, and clean spots as needed.
- Wet mop restrooms and common areas; strip, wax and buff common areas and shampoo carpets.
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
- Sweeps, dusts stairways and damp‑mops as needed; dusts and cleans meeting rooms.
- Perform routine groundskeeping and maintenance, including mowing, weed‑eating, snow removal and garbage pick‑up.
- Inform supervisor of needed supplies.
- Perform routine repairs and maintenance on electrical and plumbing systems.
- Perform routine carpentry and painting tasks.
- Replace light bulbs and/or ballast.
- Check work areas for security and energy loss.
- Secure buildings and facilities at end of shift.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of Fairgrounds policies and procedures;
Lewis & Clark County policies and procedures; safety regulations and requirements; methods, practices, and procedures for facility maintenance; materials, methods, and tools required for building repair; basic equipment and tool maintenance. - Construction procedures related to road and bridge repair; safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, including scrubbing and polishing machinery.
- Operate maintenance equipment, including lawnmowers, hand tools, snow removal equipment, tractors and forklifts.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, vendors, and citizens.
Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where hazards and discomforts are generally controlled and modifiable. The position involves work in all types of weather, exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, and dust. The employee must be able to stand, twist, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds on a brief and unpredictable basis.
The position requires frequent contact with fellow employees and citizens.
