Job Title:

Float Custodian – Capital High School

Job  – Capital High School – Helena Public Schools.

Full‑time float custodian working primarily afternoon/evening shifts with periodic day shifts. Responsibilities include maintaining building and grounds, cleaning, preventive maintenance, assisting visitors, and closing building securely.

• Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work such as snow and lawn care.
• Clean and preserve designated spaces and equipment within the building.
• Restock disposable items and provide usage and inventory data to the day maintenance person.
• Perform ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure, and hardware.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Perform light maintenance as needed.
• Assist the visiting public with directions and setting up needed equipment and materials.
• Maintain building and grounds security by closing the building each school day and during special events.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the District.

Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks, and occasionally 100 pounds such as bulk furniture.

Entry level salary is $17.40 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package: paid sick and vacation leave, 12 paid holidays, 2 paid personal days, a generous health benefit offering, and retirement.
