Evening Custodian

Helena Public Schools is dedicated to providing dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. The Afternoon/Evening Custodian for Central Elementary School plays a key role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our students, teachers, and visitors.

• Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn) and other grounds areas.
• Clean and preserve designated spaces and equipment throughout the building.
• Restock disposable items and provide day maintenance personnel with inventory usage and data.
• Perform ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, custodial equipment, building structure, and hardware.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Perform light maintenance as needed.
• Assist visitors using school facilities with directions and the setup of needed equipment and/or materials.
• Maintain building and grounds security by closing the building each school day and during special events.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.

Essential functions of the position include the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as bulk furniture with or without reasonable accommodation.

Entry level salary is $17.40 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefit package consisting of up to 12 paid sick days per calendar year, 15 days of paid vacation leave per calendar year, 13 paid holidays, generous health benefits and retirement.
