Job Purpose:The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of custodial and building maintenance duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of the City County Administration Building and the Law and Justice Center. Other facilities may be assigned as needed.

Facilities Custodial

The incumbent performs several custodial duties.
Tasks:
- Clean and sanitize rest room facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals, and toilets
- Replenish restroom supplies
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors and stairs
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets
- Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment
- Wash windows, mirrors, and walls
- Clean desks and countertops
- Empty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles and ash trays
- Clean areas around the buildings, removing trash and obstacles and sweeping walkways
Facilities Operations

This position performs functions related to activities of the building, tenants, and facilities department.
Tasks:
- Set up rooms for conferences, meetings, and special events
- Moving and arranging furniture and equipment
- Monitor room activities, ensuring fire and safety codes are met and prevent damage to building
- Lock up and secure the building each evening
- Deliver mail to post office

Secondary Duties
This position is responsible for participating in routine building maintenance.
Tasks:
- Patch and paint walls and woodwork
- General maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting shades, etc.
- Identify and report maintenance needs in assigned facility
- Removing snow and ice from walkways, stairs, and parking lots
Administrative Responsibilities

Check email and other communications daily
Attend regular staff meetings and trainings
Research products and order supplies
Complete basic logs and reports on work progress
Essential Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Related to this Position:
Knowledge of:
- Practices, methods, equipment, tools, chemicals, and materials used in custodial work and routine building maintenance or light construction.
Skill or ability to:
- Operate a variety of custodial and building maintenance equipment safely and effectively
- Understand and follow oral and written directions
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Skill and ability to perform routine electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and repair duties preferred.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 70 lbs.; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards; availability for shift work, on-call, and call back.
SafetyPerforms all functions in the safest possible manner and according to policies and procedures. Participates fully with safety trainings. Reports unsafe work conditions and practices, work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-misses as soon as possible to assigned supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience and Training):This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and prefers one year of custodial and building maintenance experience. Other relevant combinations of education and work experience may be evaluated on an individual basis. Must be able to pass a detailed background check.
License or Certificate:Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record at the time of hire and have the ability to obtain a valid MT driver’s license within six months of hire.
Supervision Received:Direct supervision and guidance of the Community Facilities Manager.
