Sculler | Birkenhead House

The Scullers at Birkenhead House assist the Chefs and Front of House teams by ensuring that any equipment they may need for guest service is clean and available at any time. They assist the teams in being able to deliver on our company purpose, which is "to give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".

• Ensure that all kitchen work surfaces (counters, sinks, stoves, walls), cookware, utensils and cutlery are cleaned according to standard operating procedures, quickly in order to be kept in rotation.
• Keep the kitchen and restaurant areas stocked with clean, and where necessary, sanitised crockery, cutlery and equipment to ensure that all meals prepared are done in a kitchen that meets all hygiene standards.
• Maintaining the highest hygiene practices to minimise wastage by keeping the food and supply storage areas organised.
• To attend all training provided by the hotel - learning how to use the equipment and to report any irregularities to the Chefs.
• Working knowledge of chemicals and detergents.
• Follow uniform SOPs and ensure that all hygiene protocols are followed by personnel for the relevant sections.
• Support the goals and ideals of the operation, working continually towards the betterment of the guest expectations.

• Matric qualification.
• Able read and speak English.
• The ability to stand for long hours.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety rules.
• The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment.
• A fast learner with an interest in the hospitality industry.

It is important that the candidate is able to work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African . Please note it is a condition of employment, that all staff undergo a pre‑employment polygraph test.
