Maintenance Associate

This part-time position is responsible for supporting the facility maintenance at The Hershey Story Museum and Hershey Gardens, which operate year round.

This position is for weekends only, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m.

A primary component of this position’s accountability will be to maintain all building mechanical, electrical, and A/V interactives. This will be accomplished with internal and external resources applied as appropriate.

This part-time position will be responsible for following all applicable safety regulations as defined by OSHA while performing routine maintenance on all building systems. This individual will support outside contractors and will identify and purchase necessary parts and equipment to keep the facilities operating efficiently.

This position will become proficient at working with all of the building management systems. These include Direct Digital Control systems for the HVAC, humidification and dehumidification systems, light dimming systems for building house lighting and display lighting, integrated lighting and show controller interfaces, and elevators. In the event of a problem with any of these systems the maintenance technician will be able to independently correct or work with outside support vendors to quickly assess and address.

This position will work closely with the Facilities Manager to provide a safe and comfortable visitor experience.

• 60% Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure all building functions are appropriately maintained and on all building equipment and systems are in compliance with the original design intent
• 20% Monitor and operate all building systems. Keep maintenance software up to date.
• 15% Perform daily building start up and shut down procedures
• 5% Act as a coordinator between outside contractors and Facilities Manager

While performing the essential functions of the job the employee is frequently required to climb, balance, crouch, and crawl, is frequently required to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 pounds and exert up to 100 pounds of force, is occasionally required to maintain body balance while ascending and descending ladders or open stairs, and maintain body equilibrium while bending at the waist or at the knees.

  Two year technical degree or equivalent working experience
