Reports to Maintenance Manager

The Janitorial Staff are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and employees across all public areas at Grandfather Mountain. This role is essential in supporting the organization’s commitment to exceptional visitor experiences and environmental stewardship.

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Must have reliable transportation
• Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus, but not required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and reliability
• Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
• Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, visitor centers and other facilities
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors in high-traffic areas
• Empty trash and recycling bins; ensure proper waste disposal practices
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
• Clean windows, doors, and high-touch surfaces regularly
• Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, including walkways and viewing spaces
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs promptly
• Follow all safety procedures and cleaning protocols, including use of cleaning chemicals
• Combination of indoor facilities and outdoor natural areas
• Exposure to weather conditions typical of mountainous environments
• Interaction with visitors in a high-traffic tourist destination
