Role and ResponsibilitiesThe Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of production machinery, maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program, and negotiating contracts with outside vendors. This role involves overseeing the operational efficiency of electrical and mechanical systems, monitoring equipment inventory, and ensuring compliance with ISO
9001, 14001, and Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
He/She will also manage the maintenance budget, plan and oversee repair and installation activities, conduct facility inspections, manage relationships with contractors, implement workplace safety policies, supervise Maintenance Department employees, and keep maintenance logs up to date. Collaboration with other departments to improve process efficiencies and performing other duties as required are also part of this role.
- Ensure the maintenance and repair of production machinery.
- Maintain and document an effective preventative maintenance program for all production machinery.
- Negotiate contracts with outside vendors and oversee execution of maintenance work.
- Ensure operational efficiency of electrical and mechanical systems through timely inspections and repairs.
- Monitor equipment inventory and ensure orders are placed as required.
- Ensure ISO
9001, 14001 and Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance. (Operates all equipment in the prescribed manner, reports all safety concerns to Supervisor, Production Manager, HS&E Manager, Maintain awareness of company policies, Maintain awareness of company objectives for ISO
9001, 14001, 18001 and 45001, Support the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.) - Available to be on call.
- Monitor expenses and manage the budget for maintenance.
- Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
- Carry out and effectively organize inspections of the facility to identify and resolve issues.
- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
- Implement and oversee workplace safety policies and standards, ie: LOTO requirements.
- Allocate workload and supervise employees within the Maintenance Department
- Keep maintenance logs up to date and report on daily activities.
- Work with other departments to improve process efficiencies.
- Associate degree in industrial maintenance technology or equivalent experience.
- Muti-craft Skills
- Proficient with MS Office
- Strong Communication
- Experience working in production environment (2-4 years minimum)
- Mechanical and electrical experience
- Must be able to withstand physical demands of the role, i.e. standing, lifting, working in confined spaces
