What You'll Do:

The Park Attendant employee performs routine semi-skilled and general clerical work in the Piedmont Environmental Center, and general maintenance work; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Parks Supervisor. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include nights, weekends and holidays. Starting pay for this position is $15.45 per hour

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Opens facility entrance and greets customers
  • Greets the visiting public and explains the center’s mission, trail system, and purpose
  • Assists visitors in choosing the appropriate trail, if required
  • Answers telephone calls and responds to inquiries
  • Provides support and assistance for rental groups in the facility
  • Processes building rental fees, program registrations, and take payments for scheduled events, trips, classes, and memberships
  • Explains programming, school-visit options, and membership opportunities to the visiting public
  • Maintains facility in a clean and orderly fashion, including emptying trash, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning glass counters, tables, cabinets, and restrooms, and cleaning bait tanks
  • Performs basic clean-up and custodial duties on grounds, facilities, and equipment
  • Picks up litter, lifts and empties trash cans, cleans and replenishes public restrooms when needed
  • Removes leaves, limbs, and debris from facility grounds
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision
  • Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies
Qualifications:
  • Formal Education, which includes basic arithmetic and/or business math.
  • Must be comfortable in a customer service role and working in an outdoor setting.
  • Must have experience operating a computer.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
