Join the Highlands Ranch Metro District team as a Facilities Technician in the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department! In this dynamic role, you'll tackle a variety of hands‑on tasks, from maintaining our beautiful parks and buildings to collaborating with contractors on exciting facility projects. Whether it’s preventive upkeep or bringing annual projects to life, your work will keep our community spaces thriving.
We offer competitive pay based on your experience and certifications. We are hiring for one position at either a Tech 1 or a Tech 2 level, see descriptions and pay below.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnician I - pay is up to $26 per hour
- Performs a variety of unskilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and operations of district-owned buildings, grounds, and parks. Work with outside contractors and assist with preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as annual facility related projects.
- Complies with established safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, community residents, and visitors.
- Provide quality internal and external customer service, through the development of relationships with staff, contractors, community members and various organizations.
- Proactively work to support quality service delivery to the community by acting on all observed opportunities for repair, maintenance, and improved service delivery.
- Perform weekly inspections of building facilities and playgrounds.
- Perform monthly electrical inspections, minor repairs and work with outside electrical contractors when needed.
- Coordinate the installation of Holiday lights with an outside contractor annually.
- Assist with the training and/or supervision of subordinate employees.
- Operate tractors, skid steer loaders, welders, small trucks, aerial boom trucks, and all hand and power tools.
- Work with facilities staff on large and small projects, repairs, and special project requests.
- Work with the Mansion and Senior Center staff on maintenance requests.
- Maintain lighting and install new Veterans tiles at the Veterans Monument.
- Work closely with the Facilities Supervisor and appropriate facilities technician to establish and maintain a quality fence maintenance program.
- Perform required maintenance to district-owned fences and assist with the fence replacement program as needed.
- Assist with vandalism repairs and graffiti removal that may occur on District property.
- Coordinate the annual energizing and winterization of plumbed restrooms/concession areas and drinking fountains.
- Perform general repairs of the park’s facilities and district-owned buildings.
- Complete work orders using asset management system.
- Contribute to the snow removal program and adjust schedule using flextime if directed. This may include weekends, holidays and nighttime hours operating snow removal equipment.
- Respond to on-call requests to assist with emergency issues after hours.
- Assist in setting up and taking down special event equipment from various parks, recreation programs, and community events.
- Respect District property, including tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Open and close, lock and unlock facilities as needed.
- Peripheral Duties:
- Collaborates professionally with other Section, Division, Department and District employees.
- May be assigned to serve as a member on various employee committees.
- May be assigned to support other sections with duties as assigned.
In addition to the above.
- Performs weekly inspections and repairs of building facilities and playgrounds as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector.
- Purchases replacement parts for playground equipment and maintains a good working relationship with all vendors.
- Performs removal of all types of graffiti throughout the Parks and Open Space system.
- Assist Tech IV or Facilities Supervisor with the coordination of the annual fence staining program.
- Assist Tech IV or Facilities Supervisor to oversee the fence replacement program.
- Coordinates the general repairs of Metro District owned fences.
- Identifies, documents, and notifies residents of parkway fence violations in accordance with District rules and regulations.
