Utility Worker

Peterson Cat is seeking a Utility Worker at our Hillsboro, OR location to support maintenance, organization, and light upkeep of heavy‑equipment machinery and facilities.

The Utility person is responsible for cleaning machines, organizing equipment and components in the yard, and performing light maintenance on machines and equipment used in the heavy equipment industry. Additional tasks may be assigned based on branch needs.

• Clean machines and components as needed to prepare equipment for delivery.
• Operate and transport heavy equipment to and from service departments and display areas.
• Organize store front and parking lots with equipment and ensure the cleanliness of each area.
• Load and unload heavy equipment and attachments from trucks.
• Maintain records and or bill of ladings.
• Complete service reports, timecards, and other related paperwork.
• Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, hoists, power tools and other shop equipment in a safe manner.
• Organize work tools for the sales department.
• Keep yard and work areas clean and organized throughout the day to ensure a safe work environment.
• Attend scheduled training classes and profit center meetings.
• Wear safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, company‑provided overalls, and other related safety gear in all designated company and customer work areas.
• Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

• Operate a company vehicle to deliver parts and components to field technicians, vendors, and customers.
• Receive, track, and record machines and attachments in the yard for inventory purposes.
• Use inventory systems and tools to scan and tag machines and attachments; verify machine and attachment serial numbers for Dealer Business Systems (DBS) receiving.
• Perform shipping and receiving functions and inspect cargo for damage, following outlined shipping and receiving policies and procedures.
• Maintain records for bills of ladings.
• Code freight bills and forward for processing.
• Install attachments to machines as needed for sale or demonstration.
• Perform minor preventative maintenance services on equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of multiple shops, offices, perimeter of building, and shop aprons including emptying trash cans, disposing used oil filters and garbage, and cleaning and refilling mop buckets.
• Assist with shop cleanliness above what technicians are required to do.
• Maintain and clean shop equipment.
• Assist with moving disabled vehicles in and out of shop.
• Pickup and deliver vehicles (depending upon type of license).
• Keep steam bay clean and organized.
• Perform monthly safety inspections in main shop, body shop, and warehouse.

• Work evening and weekend overtime as required.

High school education or equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience as a yard person or other utility worker position. Experience operating heavy and other miscellaneous equipment is required; experience with a steam cleaning machine preferred. Basic mechanical knowledge preferred but not required.

• Lift truck certificate preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record may be required.
