Facilities Supervisor
The Supervisor, Facilities oversees the maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of building systems and infrastructure to support efficient site operations. This role leads preventative and corrective maintenance activities, manages vendors and contractors, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards. By coordinating repairs, maintaining equipment and inventory, and supporting facility improvement initiatives, the supervisor ensures a safe, functional, and well‑maintained environment that minimizes downtime and supports operational continuity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and facilities.
- Monitor and lead the daily activities of the contractors who specifically perform janitorial duties for the site.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on buildings and facilities.
- Conduct routine, non‑licensed inspections of facilities including fire equipment and boilers.
- Ensure fire protection equipment is properly maintained and up to date.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to buildings and facilities including carpentry and painting.
- Coordinate licensed inspections as required.
- Coordinate major maintenance and repairs as required to mechanical systems, HVAC systems, boilers, and generators.
- Estimate cost of labor and materials for work orders; obtain competitive prices for equipment and supplies needed for the site.
- Advise the Manager of required major repairs or replacements.
- Ensure the safety and protection of buildings including ensuring doorways are not blocked and that buildings and facilities are locked when not in use.
- Clean rooms maintenance
- Works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
- Assist with administrative duties related to building maintenance.
- Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain inventory control over equipment and supplies.
- Assist in ordering replacement equipment and supplies.
- Assist in risk management activities.
- Maintain building maintenance logs and records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- National and local building codes, regulations, etc.
- Building construction and maintenance procedures
- HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems
- When to contact tradespersons to complete a task or repair
- Experienced in obtaining/evaluating quotes received for bids on projects and managing external contractors.
- Inspection procedures
- Workplace safety requirements and procedures.
Skills:
- Train and provide work direction to assigned personnel in the performance of a wide variety of duties related to the facilities maintenance.
- Ability to maintain buildings and facilities in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to operate required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills.
- Ability to read and write to maintain daily logs.
Educational / Certification Requirements:
- High school or tech school education and 3 years of factory related experience in a maintenance environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- 8 – 10 years facility maintenance experience in facilities 100K sq/ft or larger preferably a manufacturing facility.
- 1 – 3 years of management experience, preferably in a similar environment
- Experience with clean rooms highly desired.
