Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will assist with all building and facility maintenance for all Hill College structures including but not limited to: painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, A/C repairs, welding, moving furniture, driving/hauling, and operating machinery. The Maintenance Technician will ensure Hill College Campus remains safe, beautiful, functional and welcoming year around, directly contributing to student recruitment, retention, pride, and the College's mission of operational excellence.

Minimum Required

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred:
Technical or vocational training in facilities maintenance, building trades, landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, or a related field.

Minimum

Required Experience:

One year of experience in grounds or facilities maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.

Experience operating maintenance equipment and performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.

Preferred:
Experience in higher education, commercial facilities, or institutional maintenance.

Required Knowledge:
Complete preventative and corrective maintenance on campus buildings, equipment, sidewalks, parking lots, fences, signage, and other campus infrastructure.

Perform minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.

Operate, inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on grounds equipment, vehicles, tractors, mowers, power tools, and other maintenance equipment.

Assist with seasonal maintenance activities, including storm cleanup, leaf removal, ice and snow removal (when applicable), and preparation for campus events.

Maintain working knowledge of safe equipment operation, preventative maintenance practices, landscaping techniques, and building maintenance procedures.

Maintain working knowledge of workplace safety standards, hazard communication, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintain working knowledge of Hill College policies, procedures, safety practices, and the College's mission and values.

Support the long-term maintenance, appearance, and functionality of the College facilities and grounds through preventative maintenance and continuous improvement efforts.

Recommend improvements to equipment, maintenance procedures, and grounds operations that promote efficiency, safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

Assist in maintaining campus facilities that provide a safe, attractive, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors.

Support departmental goals by identifying maintenance needs and contributing to effective planning for campus improvements.

Work collaboratively with Facilities staff, supervisors, and other college departments to coordinate maintenance activities and support campus operations.

Assist with campus events, special projects, emergency response, and departmental initiatives as assigned.

Foster positive working relationships while providing courteous and professional service to students, faculty, staff, vendors, and visitors.

Communicate maintenance concerns, safety hazards, equipment issues, and project updates in a timely manner.

Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment that provides a sense of belonging for all.
