Custodian

Reports to: General Manager (GM) / Assistant Manager (AM)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, locker room areas, shower rooms, stall walls and doors, and all waste areas.
• Inspect and clean all windows and window frames, both interior and exterior.
• Detail clean all baseboards, wall trim, walls, and handrails throughout the facility to ensure all surfaces are free of handprints, scuff marks, and dust.
• Dust and clean all air vents, TVs, signage, storage or glass doors, and light fixtures.
• Assist in front desk operations as needed, including use of Point of Sale.
• Follow cleaning lists and other assigned tasks.
• Remove trash from all waste areas or push it down.
• Clean all rubber or tile flooring throughout the gym floor, auxiliary rooms, and under gym equipment using a vacuum, floor scrubber, and mop.
• Operate floor scrubber and vacuum cleaner.
• Communicate with members to create a high level of member service.
• Maintain clean, organized storage rooms, properly arranging products on shelving racks and discarding loose boxes and trash.
• Notify club management when inventory for cleaning supplies is low and needs replenishment.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Custodial experience is preferred.
• Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality skills.
• Great communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Must be team‑oriented, motivated, and well organized.
• Ability to think critically and evaluate solutions to problems proactively.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: This job operates in a fitness club environment and routinely uses standard custodial equipment such as cleaning chemicals, floor scrubbers, and vacuums. The noise level may be loud on a regular basis. The position requires working in lavatory areas.

• Regularly required to talk or hear.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work: This may be either a full‑time or part‑time, non‑exempt position. A non‑exempt Team Player is entitled to the minimum wage and/or overtime pay protections of the FLSA. Scheduled work hours per week will be set during normal club hours of operation and determined by business need. Part‑time employees are those that regularly work 29 hours per week or less.

Availability of full‑time and part‑time positions is dependent on business need. This position may work outside of regularly scheduled shift hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight as required. Work hours are subject to change at any time depending on business needs.
