Job SummaryThe Strength and Conditioning Lead is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all Hopkins Public Schools sports, Royal Athletic Center members, and Hopkins Community Education program participants. The Strength and Conditioning Lead creates training plans and programs using scientific principles, supervises and teaches training sessions, evaluates participant performance, and provides program and participant feedback. The Strength and Conditioning Lead meets regularly with coaches and the Fitness and Aquatics Program Manager to determine program offerings and collaborate with Hopkins Public Schools Athletics and Activities team for program success.
The Strength and Conditioning Lead is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safety of users in collaboration with Hopkins Community Education Facilities Use.
- Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in season, off season, and pre-season for all school sanctioned athletic programs, Royals Athletic Center members, and Hopkins Community Education participants with scientific and research-driven practices.
- Collaborate with all school sanctioned athletic program coaches, Youth Programs staff, and Athletic and Activities staff to deliver programming for all Hopkins Public Schools students during out of school time hours (Before and After School, Summer, Non School Days).
- Design and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with professional standards with oversight for the Fitness and Aquatics Program Manager and Assistant Director of Youth Programs.
- Maintain the strength and conditioning facility to ensure a clean and well-maintained environment, not limited to but including light custodial services.
- Create and maintain a safe and welcoming environment that promotes and serves the needs of youth and Royals Athletic Center members.
- Provide general supervision of students and program participants and use systems for tracking participant attendance and progress while enforcing Hopkins Public Schools behavior expectations.
- Promote and support the overall mission of Hopkins School district by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology or related field or combination of equivalent education and work experience.
- Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for youth and adults.
- Driver's License.
- CPR/AED Certification.
- Certified Personal Trainer.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to sports activities.
- Knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
- District policies and procedures.
- Registration procedures for Community Education programs.
- Proficient in fitness coaching and program design.
- Support all aspects of the program and work with stakeholders on improvement in all areas.
- Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to interact positively with students, participants, colleagues and the public.
- Strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong motivational skills and abilities.
- Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Operating a personal computer using standard and specialized software.
