POSITION:
Kindergarten FMLA Long-Term Substitute Teacher - August 14, 2026 - November 2026 (anticipated)

Duties:

This role requires a balance of early childhood expertise, strong classroom management, and the ability to seamlessly transition into an established environment.
  • Implement lesson plans
  • Teach core kindergarten concepts, including phonics, early numeracy, and fine motor skills.
  • Facilitate social-emotional development through guided play, art, and music to keep the students engaged.
  • Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to the learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students as needed
  • Implement reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner
  • Use established behavior management systems to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Strive to implement instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide necessary communication with parents on an as needed basis
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with other school personnel.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation; assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending conferences, workshops, and/or coursework
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees
  • Qualifications:
    • B.A./B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
    • Current Illinois PEL in teaching in appropriate subject area.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
    • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
    • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
    • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state.
    Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
