Building Enclosure Consultant / Senior Project Manager / Regional Leader
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world’s top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Building Enclosure Senior Project Manager to join our Building Science Solutions (BSS) team in Hillside, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to grow a versatile career in the building enclosure consulting/commissioning industry.
Intertek’s Building and Construction division is a suite of brands that lead across multiple architecture, engineering and construction disciplines. The BSS group focuses on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
What are we looking for?The ideal candidate brings deep experience in building enclosure consulting and commissioning for both new and existing buildings. They will serve as a regional leader in the Chicago area, guiding project teams, mentoring staff, and contributing technical expertise. Together with the Regional Manager, they will grow local BSS business by developing client relationships, pursuing new opportunities, and ensuring high‑quality project delivery.
Shift/ Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. The position requires up to 25% travel outside the local area, depending on project load.
Salary & BenefitsSalary range: $140,000 – $180,000. Bonus eligible. Compensation packages consider skill set, experience, qualifications and other job‑related factors.

What you’ll do- Collaborate with the Regional Manager to lead and build Chicago area business, including technical work, business development and mentoring staff
- Lead building enclosure commissioning projects and train staff in BECx process and requirements
- Provide consulting, commissioning, and design‑and‑construction phase services for new building projects
- Conduct investigations and assessments for existing buildings and provide remedial repair designs and construction services when requested
- Prepare proposals for potential new work
- Assist in meeting profit center financial goals
- Prepare professionally written deliverables, including proposals, technical reports, design reviews, etc.
- Help hire, train, and mentor new building science team members
- Develop local business and assist with national, larger pursuits outside the local area
- Participate in professional organizations, author papers, attend conferences, and serve on technical committees
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Architectural Engineering and 8+ years of experience in Building Enclosure consulting/industry, or 14+ years of experience in lieu of the degree
- Experience mentoring, training, leading, and managing staff
- Building enclosure commissioning experience and proficiency
- Significant technical understanding of building enclosure systems and construction
- Experience managing a range of small to large projects
- Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks in the field (e.g., ladders, boom‑lifts, scaffolds, roofs)
- Excellent organizational and project‑management skills
- Professional interaction and communication with clients and project teams
- Travel up to 25% outside local area, as required
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
- Registered Architect (RA) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration, or ability to obtain within one year of hire (preferred, not required)
- Technical experience with diverse building types and enclosure systems
- Building enclosure testing, including investigative testing
- Façade condition assessments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
- AutoCAD/Revit/BIM/Sketch‑Up proficiency
- Safety training and scaffold certification
- Registered Architect (RA) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration, or ability to obtain within one year (preferred)
- Experience with diverse building types and enclosure systems
