By afternoon, you’re closing a corrective action loop stemming from an RMA while preparing PPAP documentation for an industrial machinery customer. That’s a typical day for our AS9100 Dimensional Inspection Specialist at Belden Universal.
What You’ll DoRun first‑piece, in‑process, and final inspections to confirm parts meet blueprint and specification requirements for aerospace, defense, and industrial machinery customers.
Perform detailed visual checks to catch defects, burrs, and surface finish concerns before release.
Administer the gage program: oversee calibration schedules, maintain traceability, and control inspection equipment.
Mentor operators on the floor to build ownership of in‑process quality and elevate best practices.
Author clear inspection specifications aligned with customer and engineering requirements.
Draft work instructions that standardize inspection and quality processes.
Assemble Certificates of Conformance and complete First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) packages.
Collaborate with the Quality Manager on customer PPAP submissions.
Support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for RMAs and customer complaints, ensuring sustainable fixes.
Tools & Methods You’ll Use Mechanical metrology: micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, comparators, digital comparators; CMM experience is a strong plus.
Print interpretation: fluent in complex drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5).Quality systems: ISO 9001/AS9100 environments with hands‑on FAI, SPC, tolerance stack‑ups, and measurement uncertainty.
Background We’re Seeking5+ years in quality or manufacturing within a CNC machining environment.
Clear, organized communicator who is analytical and detail‑driven.
Regulatory readiness: must be a US person as defined by ITAR regulations.
