Building Science Testing Technician

Intertek's Building Science Solutions (BSS) group focuses on building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.

• Perform a variety of testing, project‑specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (air and water infiltration).
• Provide assessment of data through reporting.
• Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams.
• Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
• Make detailed observations and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• General construction, carpentry, or construction testing experience.
• Experience using power tools.
• Technical competency to understand and communicate test procedures, specifications, and results; mechanical aptitude.
• Compliance with safety practices and policies.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more, sit, stand, crouch, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, push, pull, etc. as required to perform job duties.
• Ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to travel as business needs indicate—up to 25% overnight/out of town.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required.

• Degree in a technical field or equivalent related experience.
• Construction, glazing, roofing or similar general construction background.

The base wage is $28‑35 per hour, dependent on experience. Compensation packages are based on skill set, experience, qualifications and other job‑related factors. Monday – Friday core business hours (may vary slightly); 25% overnight/out‑of‑town travel as business needs indicate.
