Job Description
Join the team at Hilo Benioff Medical Center and play a vital role in creating a safe, clean, and healing environment for patients, families, and staff. As an Environmental Services Worker II, you will directly support patient care by maintaining high sanitation standards across the hospital. Your work ensures comfort, safety, and dignity for every individual who walks through our doors.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, restrooms, common areas, and hospital facilities using approved disinfectants
- Collect, transport, and dispose of regular, infectious, and pathological waste in accordance with safety protocols
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including floor care machines for stripping, waxing, and carpet maintenance
- Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and linens to ensure continuous availability
- Clean and disinfect specialized areas including isolation rooms, intensive care units, and surgical suites while following strict safety procedures
- Move and handle furniture, beds, and equipment safely to ensure thorough cleaning of all areas
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of janitorial practices, cleaning tools, and materials
- Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain patient confidentiality
