Job Description

As a Building & Grounds Utility Worker, you will support essential maintenance and repair work that ensures a reliable and healing environment. Your hands-on contributions play a key role in keeping hospital operations running smoothly every day.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with preventive maintenance and minor repairs on hospital equipment, fixtures, and facilities
- Support skilled trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting) with basic repair and upkeep tasks
- Perform routine groundskeeping duties including mowing, landscaping, and exterior maintenance
- Operate equipment and vehicles to transport materials, supplies, and waste
- Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory while ensuring proper cleaning and upkeep
- Follow all safety, infection control, and facility policies while working collaboratively with staff and departments
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences are credited based on a 40-hour work week.
Qualifications- Education: No minimum required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience: Combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years in building and grounds maintenance
- Licensure: Valid State of Hawaii Driver’s License (Type
3) required (evidence of license and original copy of traffic abstract is required)

Pre-Employment Health RequirementsOffers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
